Diagnostic Cable for VW 150 tdi ( Engine ANH Model )
Need some advice please. Just installed 3 batteries for my 230AS as the old ones were getting tired, but after instalation of said batteries, when i turn on the ignition and wait 5 seconds for the glow light to go out the engine starts fine. The problem is now after 30 seconds of the engine running i get the dreaded glow light flashing with flashing service. I have had a look in the engine problem section and some body said you can connect a diagnostics cable Model no. New USB Cable KKL 409.1 OBD2 OBD OBDII VAG 409 COM VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda
The problem is all the cables i have been looking at say they don't work with can bus cars (whatever that is) i am sure i read in the workshop manual for my engine that it mentions that it is a can bus system, can anybody please clarify the type of system and will the above cable be ok to use and not blow my electrics if i plug it in.
Many thanks Richard

turbo cleaning/service
Help please. I am looking to clean the internals of my turbo, 5 cyl 150hp tdi.
In order to service the turbo it has to be split into two parts, the actual turbo has to be separated from the cast iron exhaust manifold. Can this be done without removing the manifold from the engine? This would avoid the need to drain down the coolant.
The cassette is held in the cast iron manifold by six 10mm bolts. I haven't been able to find a drawing that shows how they join but from the nature of the bolts the cassette is pressed into the manifold. A sort of tapered interference fit? Or perhaps there is a large O ring seal.
It looks that it might be possible to remove the six bolts without disturbing the oil feed and return fittings. Disconnecting these pipes at the first flexible joint would again ease the operation.
I do the VW 200 hr procedure every 2 or 3 months but am not able to give the engine the hard drive to burn the carbon off.
Cant get service light to go Out
I have a VW 150 TDI with 450 hours and I When I tried to start the engine just got the fast intermittent clicking sounds as you get when bad batteries or bad earth connection. Have just changed out all 3 batteries due to 2 of them going down 11.7v ( 2 main 1 Aux ) getting old, alternator charges at 13.7 volts at the batteries. Boat started instantly as always with new batteries. The glow light comes on and goes out after 5-10 seconds usual but when the engine runs for 30 seconds the SERVICE appears and glow starts to flash. This also happens if the engine is not started with the ignition left on. I have checked the batteries for good connection. Have checked the ECU diagnostic with a (Basic) diagnostics unit and it reports no fault codes detected. It seems a bit of a coincidence that this happens the first time I started the engine with new batteries. Stuart has told me I can delete this service light buy turning on ignition and holding down the engine stop button for 30 seconds to a minute but this won’t stop the service light. Has maybe my trying to start the engine 3 times and only getting the clicking sound maybe done something to the fault codes. Any help would be appreciated as the engine has always been very well maintained by myself and never had a single problem at all it starts instantly and gives full power.
Thank you for any Ideas

Arvor 25 Exhaust Hose
Gents
I have eventually tracked down the source of excess bilge water, it is more or less identical
to that of a previous post by Sea Angel, a leaky exhaust hose.
As my boat is now 11yrs old I intend to replace the exhaust hose completely rather than a attempt to fix the existing hose which is leaking and has rust stains around the stainless skin fitting. This particular joint in the system looks extremely difficult to access, everything else appears accessible.
I have spoken to Sea Angel and have had a look at the excellent replacement job he did of his,
he used vetus exhaust hose.
I have seen another brand 'Seaflow' on the market at a similiar cost.
I was wondering if any of you have replaced the exhaust on a 25 or know anything more about the two brands and could add anymore advice to that already gratefully gleaned from Sea Angel.
Thanks

Engine drain for winter
Hi Guys, bought the boat, have the manual and now trying to get to grips with what is needed to drain the engine block during winter, old boat was an inboard mercruiser 3lt and this was easy as all you needed to do was to disconnect the special quick fit hoses !!

Anode replacement 2.0 cummins qsd
Hi,
Does anyone know if you have to drain the complete sea water cooling system to change the engine anode as it says in the manual or could you just remove the anode let the water drain down to that level then replace with the new one.
There is probably a reason why you cant but it just seems a lot simpler to me.

flushing out the engine
how do you flush out the sea water side of the engine on the arvor 230 commins advice needed thank you
Windlass Remote
Promised I would put photo up of a windlass remote.
There are of course deck fittings, but they are fixed and allow no movement.
This coily lead remote extends to 3 metres, so enough to walk almost back to the cabin whilst still retrieving the anchor, (Especially handy if on your own)
I understand there are wireless remotes available (But i have not seen these)

engine mount
Hi everyone
My ist post.
I have a 215 2004 which I recently bought,I have recently been told by an engineer that one of the engine mounts is broken so he is also suggesting it may have damaged the shaft bearing. I would like to know if any one here has had this problem because my engine has done less than 300 hours so I was surprised and worried to find such a major problem. He also said the way it has been fitted is not that great as it does not allow any movement to adjust everything for dead centre of the shaft.
look forward to hearing any of your experiences relating to this.

Valve Clearances Nanni 85HP
New Year greetings to all from Down Under. And thanks for a great Forum. I use it lots and get heaps of great information!
We’ve had our boat for about 18 months now and I’m thinking it’s probably time I checked the valve clearances.
I’ve looked in the Nanni Workshop Manual which covers the base Kubota engine and there is some info there on how to do it. But I would appreciate some help with a couple of things.
The manual refers to a flywheel inspection opening so that you can set the No.1 piston at Top Dead Centre by rotating the engine.
So far I haven’t been able to find this inspection opening. Maybe it was “lost” when Nanni did the marinisation? Or is it still there somewhere? If it’s gone, how is the best way to determine when No.1 piston is at Top Dead Centre?
Also wondering how is the best way to turn the motor? Maybe off the Hex bolt on the front of the motor at the crankshaft? Which way should I rotate it so that the hex bolt doesn’t come loose? Will I be able to rotate the engine OK against compression or will I have to somehow remove compression?
engine mount 2
Hello,
we intend to remove the Mercruiser 4.2D of our Arvor 25 for a major inspection. For me it looks like that it might be easier to take out the engine including the shock mounts. Does anybody know what kind of bolts are used to screw the mounts to the hull (don't like to hear a
